Performance Analysis of Subband Arrays

چکیده
Several subband array methods have been proposed as useful means to perform joint spatio-temporal equalization in digital mobile communications. These methods can be applied to mitigate problems caused by the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and co-channel interference (CCI). The subband array methods proposed so far can be classi ed into two major schemes: (1) a centralized feedback scheme and (2) a localized feedback scheme. In this paper, we propose subband arrays with partial feedback scheme, which generalize the above two feedback schemes. The main contribution of this paper is to derive the steadystate mean square error (MSE) performance of subband arrays implementing these three di erent feedback schemes. Unlike the centralized feedback scheme which can be designed to provide the optimum equalization performance, the subband arrays with localized and partial feedback schemes are in general suboptimal. The performance of these two suboptimal feedback schemes depends on the channel characteristics, the lter banks employed, and the number of subbands. key words: Subband array, space-time adaptive processing, adaptive array, multirate signal processing, mobile communications.

Convergence Performance of Subband Arrays for Spatio-temporal Equalization
Subband arrays have been proposed as useful means to realize joint spatio-temporal domain equalization in digital mobile communications. They are used to mitigate channel impairment problems caused by the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and co-channel interference (CCI). In this paper, we propose the normalized subband array and locally orthogonalizing subband array techniques for channel equal...
متن کاملSubband Array Implementations for Space-Time Adaptive Processing
Intersymbol interference (ISI) and cochannel interference (CCI) are two primary sources of signal impairment in mobile communications. In order to suppress both ISI and CCI, space-time adaptive processing (STAP) has been shown to be effective in performing spatio-temporal equalization, leading to increased communication capacity as well as improved quality of service. The high complexity and sl...

A new adaptive beamformer which combines the idea of subband processing and the generalized sidelobe canceller structure is presented. The proposed subband beamformer has a blocking matrix that uses coefficient-constrained subband adaptive filters to limit target cancellation within an allowable range of direction of arrival. Simulations compare the fullband adaptive beamformer and the subband ...
متن کاملA Family of Variable Step-Size Normalized Subband Adaptive Filter Algorithms Using Statistics of System Impulse Response
This paper presents a new variable step-size normalized subband adaptive filter (VSS-NSAF) algorithm. The proposed algorithm uses the prior knowledge of the system impulse response statistics and the optimal step-size vector is obtained by minimizing the mean-square deviation(MSD). In comparison with NSAF, the VSS-NSAF algorithm has faster convergence speed and lower MSD. To reduce the computa...
متن کاملFirst- and Second-order Adaptive Differential Microphone Arrays
Whenever undesired noise sources are spatially nonstationary, conventional directional microphone technology has its limits in terms of interference suppression. Adaptive differential microphone arrays (ADMAs) with their null steering capabilities promise better performance. This contribution introduces and examines firstand second-order ADMAs based on fullband as well as on subband algorithms....
